SEO Strategies to Rank Higher in Google and Get More Traffic
Getting your business to page one of Google results takes time, but it pays off. Here's what actually moves the needle in SEO.
SEO (search engine optimization) is the process of making your website rank higher in Google search results. Unlike paid ads, SEO traffic is free—but it takes time.
Google's algorithm looks at three main things: relevance (does your page answer what people are searching for?), authority (do other sites link to you?), and user experience (does your site work well?).
Start with keyword research. What problems are your customers searching for? If you sell bookkeeping services, people search 'small business accounting software' or 'how to organize business finances.' Create content that answers these questions.
On-page SEO: Use your target keyword in the title, first paragraph, and headings. Write clear, helpful content—at least 1,000 words for competitive keywords. Make sure your site loads fast.
Link building: Get other websites to link to your site. This signals authority to Google. Reach out to industry blogs, business directories, and partner organizations for backlinks.
Local SEO matters too: If you serve a geographic area, make sure your Google Business Profile is accurate with current hours, location, and customer reviews.
Expect SEO to take 3-6 months before you see real traffic gains. But once you rank well, that traffic is consistent and free.
